“Momma. Momma! What’s THAT?” Asher asks. He’s sipping on a mango smoothy. Finn’s smoothy fell on the floor of the car and I’m trying to recover the top and quickly wipe away the dirt, clean off the straw, and at the same time keep the car moving at a steady pace on the highway.
Quick side note here, since we’re talking about cars…I am also happy to report this week that the boys witnessed me change the halogen bulb of my headlight. (With a little help from another momma friend, of course!)
The boy’s long legs dangle from their car seats. Asher’s car booster seat is in the mail and arriving any day now.
“Momma, Momma, what’s THAT?” Asher asks again.
“THAT. Is a landfill. Here you go Finn, clean straw, all set.”
“Thanks Mom.” Finn slurps.
“A landfill?”
“Yes. Where we bury our trash.”
“NO!” Asher is in shock.
“YES!”
“We need to recycle more.”
“Yeah!” agrees Finn.
“Mom, MOM. We need to, we NEED to recycle. Don’t throw ANYTHING out. We can make things from the trash.”
“Okay.” I’m trying to think how I’m going to organize all the greek yogurt containers and toilet paper tubes. Bins. Bins. I start to see robots lining up around the house. “Boys. We also need to stop bringing in so much packaging too. We have to start with production.”
“Yup! New house rule.”
Slurp. Mango smoothies finished, seedling container created.
